State reports to the Washington State Supreme Court

As part of its retention of jurisdiction over the McCleary case, the State Supreme Court ordered the Legislature to make annual reports on its progress toward fully funding K-12 education.

The State filed a brief, along with the Legislature’s 2018 post-budget report, with the Supreme Court on April 9, 2018.

The State filed a brief with the Supreme Court on July 31, 2017, following the adoption of the State budget by the Legislature.

The State responded to the Supreme Court’s order on August 22, 2016.

The State filed a brief with the Court on May 18, 2016.

The Legislature filed a report and the State filed a brief on July 27, 2015.

The State filed its third mandated report on April 30, 2014. When the Supreme Court ordered the State to appear before the Court to show cause as to why the State should not be held in contempt for failing to heed McCleary orders, the State filed a response to that show-cause order on July 11, 2014 .

The State filed its second mandated report on August 29, 2013.

The State filed its first report on Sept. 17, 2012.
